March 2006 - A Special Multi-Client Study
China’s Corn Processing Industry:  Its Future Development and Implications for World Trade

Informa Economics is very pleased to announce the launch of a second multi-client study undertaken in conjunction with the China National Grain and Oils Information Center (NGOIC) on the increasingly dynamic Chinese agriculture and food sector.  This study will focus especially on China’s corn and corn processing industry structure, conduct and performance and evaluate its historical trends and future characteristics.  This is the second in a series following last year’s well-received Informa/NGOIC study of China's oilseed complex, entitled “China’s Oilseed Market: Where Do We Go from Here?”

In recent years, China has demonstrated the world's most effective economic development strategy and it remains committed to rapid economic growth for the foreseeable future.  Because of its massive size, its growth trends continue to provide one of the world's most powerful economic engines, and to have strong and growing impacts on global markets in general, especially for energy and other commodities as well as for agriculture.

For example, China’s potential influence on world and US corn markets is likely to be enormous, especially in the current context of an ever-tighter US corn balance given the extraordinary growth of US corn-based ethanol.  China's competitive exports are now on a trajectory to morph into potential net imports--a policy and market shift that raises far-reaching concerns about when and how it will take place (the drivers and the timing) and its impacts.

Our discussions with clients suggest that every organization influenced by these trends must determine how to manage the risks involved, to minimize problems and stresses they generate and seize the opportunities they offer.

Please review the detailed study prospectus below to better understand the scope, details and focus of this timely study.  I will be happy to answer any questions you may have about the study and I look forward to your joining Informa in this unique effort.  Thank you for your time and attention.

Sincerely,

Bruce Scherr

Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board
